HUNGER FIGHT: 1.1m Meals Packed On First Day

The four-day effort to feed the hungry around the world is off to a good start.

Meals from the Heartland volunteers packed just over 1.1-million-meals Wednesday.

The annual Hunger Fight is taking place at Hy-Vee Hall in downtown Des Moines.

The goal of the effort is to reach at least 5-million meals by the end of Saturday.

Some of the meals will stay here in Iowa, others will be shipped around the world.
