NEW REPORT: Majority Of State In Drought

The heat and lack of rain means more than 80-percent of the state is experiencing drought conditions.

According the latest numbers from the U.S. Drought Monitor, 22-percent of Iowa is in severe drought. Sixty-percent of the state is in the less severe category of moderate drought.

The rest of the state is considered abnormally dry.

The report is put out weekly by the USDA and the National Weather Service.
