The game-time advice Iowa State University is giving has nothing to do the Saturday football game.

With another hot day in the forecast, the school is recommending fans prepare themselves for the game just like the athletes: plenty of water, rest, and protection from the sun.

“Drink plenty of water.  This is your best line of defense against heat exhaustion or heat stroke,” said Michelle Hendricks, Iowa State Thielen Student Health Center Director.

The Iowa State Athletic Department ordered 26,000 bottles of water for football fans to buy at Saturday’s game.

Fans can also bring unopened bottles of water or empty, reusable containers to fill at drinking fountains.

Iowa State University Police will have golf carts stocked with cold packs and bottled water ready just in case fans get a little too heated from the game.
