Investigators say the human remains found Thursday are believed to be a missing east Dubuque teenager.

Fourteen-year old Chyenne Kircher has been missing since October 2011.  A note saying she had run away was found, but police never believed the story.

Now officials think they’ve found Kircher’s remains in a wooded area behind the home where her mother and stepfather live.

Her stepfather, Terry Abbas, is accused of strangling Chyenne the day she disappeared.

Police arrested him on Wednesday charging him with two counts of first-degree murder.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
