Officials have released the name of a man killed in a crash in Ankeny Sunday morning.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m., when a pick-up truck crashed in the 7900 block of Northeast 29th Street. Police say the truck went into the ditch and hit a culvert before coming to a stop in Four Mile Creek.

Two Elkhart men were in the truck at the time of the crash. The driver, 30-year-old Chad Leto, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, 34-year-old Randy Parker, was taken to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Friends of Leto stopped by the crash site, saying they had to see it for themselves.

“Very, very close friend. Actually they live a couple houses down from me.  We’re kind of like family there.  Small town and we just are family,” says Kim Leichliter.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the crash.
