MURDER CASE: Victim In Shooting Identified

Marshalltown police have released the name of a murder victim killed earlier this week.

Police found the body of 59-year-old David Warnell of Garwin Tuesday in a home on North 4th Avenue in Marshalltown. An autopsy reveals Garwin died of a gunshot wound to the head.

2_mug_Nelson_GartonTwo men are in custody, charged in the case. Thirty-year-old Jeremy Gartin is charged with first degree murder. Fifty-five-year-old Max Nelson Jr. is charged with accessory after the fact, abuse of a corpse, and first degree theft.

The case is still under investigation, but no other suspects are being sought.
