The deal to sell West Des Moines-based Aviva is now done.

Apollo Global Management completed the sale Wednesday for $2.6 billion. That’s up from the $1.5 billion that was expected for the acquisition.

The insurance company will be renamed Athene USA.

Athene is now one of the largest fixed annuity companies in the U.S., with $60 billion in assets.

The new owners say they plan to keep the headquarters in West Des Moines, but have announced 90 jobs will be cut at that location following the completion of the deal.

About 1,400 people work at Athene USA in West Des Moines.
