As Iowa State players prepared to take on Texas in Ames, officials were also preparing for a different storm overhead.

Public safety officials have been monitoring the weather for a couple days. They say they are not as concerned as they were in the beginning.

However they are vigilant in checking with numerous weather stations.

They even get a personal campus weather warning from the college`s meteorology department.

“We would like to do the best that we can to protect and provide warning and to provide the most up-to-date custom information that someone else might not be able to put the time into, so that they can make the proper decisions in terms of evacuations and safety procedures,” explained graduate research assistant, Brian Squitieri.

Officials say their main concern for Thursday`s weather is lightning and strong winds.
