Attorneys took off their suits and ties Friday and dug in for a day of service at an Ankeny facility.

Trial attorneys with the Iowa Association for Justice met at On with Life, a brain injury rehabilitation center and the site of the association’s annual service project.

The attorneys did some landscaping and built gardens for the patients.

They also worked on a wheelchair accessible dock for the campus pond which they hope will bring joy to those receiving rehabilitation.

“It take volunteers like this to complete the project so we’re excited and we’re looking forward to next we can actually drop that fishing pole in and reel out that big fish and see the smiles on everyone’s face,” Pat Stilwill says. “That’s what it’s about for us.”

The attorneys who worked on the project say they often represent victims of traumatic brain injuries.
