Bacon is the focus of a big event in Ames this weekend.

Saturday is the first Iowa State University Bacon Expo. Twenty-two vendors and student clubs will fill the Scheman Center with their creations.

The Dairy Club is making bacon ice cream and the Rodeo Club is serving corn dogs wrapped in bacon. There’s also a bacon eating contest and a “How Do You Wear Your Bacon?” competition.

“What we’re doing this year we partnered up with the Fashion Show here on campus and there will be a contest going on and there will be teams that build these outfits out of bacon. It will take an hour to build them, and then there will be a modeling show afterward to model their creation,” says Kristin Liska, co-chair of the Bacon Expo.

If you’re salivating at the thought of attending the Bacon Expo, you’re out of luck if you don’t already have a ticket. The 1,200 tickets to the event sold out within two days.
