A celebration in Iowa is honoring the king of late night.

Wednesday would have been Johnny Carson’s 88th birthday. His hometown of Corning is celebrating by re-opening his restored birthplace for the first time in years.

Carson was born in corning in 1925, but moved to Nebraska when he was very young.

For the last few years work has been underway to return his first home to the condition it was in when he was born. The renovation was set back a few years ago when a car crashed through the front of the home.
