A woman has died and one other person was injured after a crash in Monona County Thursday.

The Iowa State Patrol says 26-year-old Raetahne Thomas, of Nebraska, was driving north on Cherry Avenue and a semi-truck was heading south when the vehicles sideswiped each other at a curve in the road.

The semi overturned on the roadway and Thomas’ vehicle ended up in a ditch nearby.

Paramedics took Thomas to the hospital where she died.

The semi driver, 43-year-old Ricky Kellog of Nebraska, was also taken to the hospital, treated and released.

Troopers say Thomas was not wearing a seat belt.
