The trial for two people accused in a June murder begins Monday in Polk County.

Forty-six-year-old Spencer Pierce and 27-year-old Deanna Hood are charged with first degree murder and first degree robbery.

Des Moines police say the pair shot and robbed 35-year-old Steven Harmon. His body was found in a parking lot on East Aurora Avenue in Des Moines on June 6th after a woman called 911 saying she had heard shots.

The investigation turned up Pierce and Hood as suspects. At the time murder charges were filed, they were already in police custody on narcotics charges that stemmed from items found during the execution of a search warrant related to the murder investigation.
