The superintendent of the Johnston School District is retiring.

Clay Guthmiller made the announcement during Monday night’s school board meeting. Guthmiller will remain on the job until the end of June.

The board will consider hiring a search firm to look for Guthmiller’s replacement.

Before Guthmiller leaves he’ll work on elementary school boundary revisions and he’ll see the groundbreaking for the new high school in May.
