DEADLY CRASH: Bayard Man Killed

Authorities have released the name of a man killed in an accident on Highway 141 in Guthrie County Tuesday.

The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened around 5:30 p.m. just west of Bayard. Twenty-three-year-old Jacob Stringer of Bayard was heading westbound when his car hit a guard rail and he lost control. The car crossed the center line and hit an eastbound truck.

Stringer was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, 65-year-old Laverne Tigges of Adel, was flown by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. His is listed in fair condition.

The investigation into the crash continues.
