A whole lot of concrete is being used for the deck of the Grand Avenue Bridge – five million pounds of it.

Thursday is an important day for construction of the bridge, it’s the day crews are essentially putting it back together. It takes two concrete plants to produce the concrete needed for the project and four companies to help run the concrete from the companies to the bridge.

Crews started pouring the concrete Thursday morning at 7:00 and they’ll be working until around 8:00 p.m.

The contractor hopes to get three lanes of traffic open by November 29th and have all five lanes open by Christmas.
