A thin blanket of snow with some ice underneath is making roads slick Friday morning.

Des Moines police say there were only a few accidents overnight in the city but the Iowa State Patrol says there were 30 collisions between 2:00 p.m. Thursday and midnight in District 1. That covers Boone, Story, Marshall, Jasper, Dallas, and Polk counties. Officials say that number doesn’t count vehicles that just slid off the road or ended up in the ditch.

Drivers are being advised to take it slow on the roads as some are still wet and icy.
