The 4-A championship game kicked off at 7 p.m. Friday.
Some have called it The Rosary Bowl with two Catholic schools making the final – number one seed Dowling Catholic and Cedar Rapids Xavier.
Before the game, Dowling Coach Tom Wilson thought it would be a battle between two good defences, “I think it’s going to be a tough physical game. Both defenses have played very well throughout the course of the year. Hopefully our defense is hitting its stride now based on our last few performances."
Unbeaten all season, the Maroons were looking for perfection. And they got it with comfort.
Dowling sealed their fourth football championship at the UNI-Dome with a 44-13 victory.
