The threat of winter weather has shoppers rushing to finishing their Christmas shopping before the storm.

“I didn’t want to drive in the snow and I didn’t want him to drive in the snow,” said shopper Alice Gawehr.

And Alice was not alone; crowds flooded the Merle Hay Mall Saturday morning.  Stores opened early at 8 a.m. and the last-minute shoppers packed into the stores.

One family said they are relieved to finish their shopping so they can spend Sunday playing in the snow.

“It’s a big weight lifted off our shoulders.  Now we can relax and enjoy the holidays,” said shopper Shawn Beckett.

For those willing to brave the winter weather, malls will open early again on Sunday.  The Jordan Creek Town Center will open at 9 a.m.  The Merle Hay and Valley West Malls will open at 10 a.m.
