Family and friends are remembering the couple from Wilton killed on their way to see the Hawkeyes play in the Outback Bowl.

The two fans, 65-year-old Elaine and 64-year-old Kenneth Behrens, were both killed Sunday in a car crash in Georgia.

Police say the couple was rear-ended on Interstate-75.  Their SUV slid into the median and flipped.

Kenneth announced Durant’s High School football and basketball games. He was even the mayor for a year. Elaine was a long time elementary school teacher.

Friends say they will be greatly missed.

“They got a good one, they got two good ones. Wherever they are, they’ll make it a better place, I know they did for me,” Gary Delong told WQAD.

A 13-year old boy in Behren’s car was not injured.
