The U.S. Marshal’s office has issued an emergency arrest warrant for a man who walked away from the Fort Des Moines Work Release Facility Tuesday night.

Officials say 25-year-old Derrick Hoover should be considered armed and dangerous because of past charges.

In 2010, Hoover was convicted of being a felon in possession of a fire arm. He’s been at Fort Des Moines since last November.

Police are actively searching for Hoover. He’s described as being five-foot-seven and weighs about 200 pounds.

If you know where he is, contact the U.S. Marshal’s Office at 284-6240 or Des Moines Police.
