A new program is offering underemployed and unemployed Iowans a new option.

Des Moines Area Community College is beginning a new state-funded campaign to get Iowans trained in in-demand job fields.

It focuses on four fields with the highest needs. They include advanced manufacturing, health care, business and information technology and transportation.

DMACC says it will create new short-term certificates that will help participants earn entry-level positions. After they conclude their education, a Goodwill expert will help students land a job and get an outfit for the job interview.

After the students become employed, DMACC will continue to work with the student to obtain higher education for employment improvements.
