TREACHEROUS COMMUTE: Drivers Faced Whiteout

While the heavy snow is over, wind remains a concern for drivers Thursday night.

A Blizzard Warning in place for much of the evening covering Polk, Warren, jasper and Marion counties expires at 9 p.m.

With a layer of ice and blowing snow, commuters found the roads treacherous.

Authorities responded to numerous accidents as roads resembled parking lots. I-80 eastbound is blocked due to a crash near Waukee. Hwy 169 also has a pile-up blocking traffic.
