Five fire departments were called to a fire at a home in Madison County Thursday afternoon.

Crews were called to 2964 260th Street in rural St. Charles around 1:15 p.m. When firefighters arrived they found smoke and flames coming from the top of the home.

Officials say because of the rural area water had to be trucked in to fight the fire.

No one was home at the time of the fire

Fire departments from Truro, St. Charles, Winterset, New Virginia, and Norwalk worked together to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated
