Des Moines police have made an arrest in a weekend hit-and-run crash that injured three people, including a pregnant woman.

Twenty-three-year-old Taurean Forbush is charged with OWI, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to maintain control, driving the wrong way on a one-way street and possession of marijuana.

He was taken to the Polk County Jail and has since been released.

Des Moines police responded to a call on 3rd Street south of Court Avenue around 2:00 Sunday morning. Forbush was allegedly driving the wrong way on 3rd Street when he hit a car carrying three people and then drove off.

Paramedics took the passengers to the hospital with minor injuries. Police say the pregnant woman is recovering well.

Forbush was pulled over a short time after the crash near Fleur Drive and Watrous Avenue. Officers say he had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, and then reportedly dropped a bag of marijuana in the back of the squad car.
