Two people are behind bars following a high speed chase through Jasper and Polk counties Wednesday morning.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Tanisha Huse of Des Moines was behind the wheel, while 30-year-old Andre Williams of Altoona was a passenger.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office says it received word the two might be transporting drugs. When a deputy tried to stop them on I-80, authorities say they took off, at times reaching speeds of 100 miles-per-hour.

Colfax and Altoona police picked up the chase and used stop sticks to disable the vehicle, which ended up in a ditch in a ditch near Highway 65. About a quarter of a pound of marijuana was found in the vehicle as well as a loaded gun.

Huse and Williams both face drug charges.

Huse is also charged with driving while barred, OWI, and carrying weapons.
