Fayette County officials are still investigating a house fire that left five people dead.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said the call on the fire came just after 3:30 a.m.  Crews from Arlington, Aurora and Stanley were called out to a home near Arlington.

Firefighters said they believed there were people in the house but the fire was too dangerous for firefighters to enter the home.  Crews said the flames from the home could be seen from a mile and a half away.

The names of the five people killed in the fire have not been released.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire.  The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is also assisting in the fire investigation.
