Snowfall is coming to an end in Central Iowa this evening. The BLIZZARD Warning remains in effect for areas along and North of Highway 20. Polk County and much of Central and Southern Iowa have been downgraded to a Winter Weather Advisory.

Travel is not advised in Northern Iowa, and will even become difficult in Des Moines as temperatures drop below freezing tonight and the slush on the roads begins to freeze. Use extra caution on sidewalks, bridges and overpasses.

Warmer weather will return tomorrow.

Here are some of the snowfall totals from around Central Iowa:

  • Clear Lake 4.5"
  • Fort Dodge 4.5"
  • Ackley 4.0"
  • Jefferson 3.0"
  • Clive 1.5"
  • Johnston 1.8"
