Des Moines University is hoping bald is beautiful — and profitable.

Tuesday is their second annual head shaving event to raise money for childhood cancer research. During last year’s event they raised $20,000. They hope to increase that amount this year.

Thirty-five DMU students, staff, and faculty have already signed up to shave their heads or cut off their long locks.

The event kicks off at noon in the Student Education Center on Grand Avenue. Razors fire up at 1:00 p.m.

Money raised will benefit  the St. Baldrick’s foundation.

The fundraiser is open to the community, so walk-ins are welcome.
