Des Moines police say a home invasion turned violent Monday night.

It happened around 10:30 at 1331 Fremont Street. People in the home told officers three men came in, asking for money and cell phones.

Two teenage victims told police that two of the men assaulted them by hitting one of them in the head with a baseball bat and the other in the head with what looked like a BB gun.

The men took an Xbox and $300 in cash before running off.

This is at least the 12th home invasion reported in Des Moines this year. In all of 2013, police responded to 11 home invasions.
