After nearly a decade of trials, Vernon Huser was sentenced in the death of Lance Morningstar.

Polk County District Court Judge Glenn Pille sentenced Vern Huser to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the death of Morningstar.

Huser hired Louis Woolheater to kill Morningstar after he found out he was having an affair with his ex-wife.

Woolheater is currently serving a life sentence.

“We`re just so glad, it`s been almost a decade we've been trying to get the guy that`s responsible and we`re really glad it`s over and we can start moving on,” said Morningstar’s son Lynn Morningstar in an exclusive interview.

Lynn Morningstar said justice for his Dad was a long time coming.

“We were really glad that no one gave up and kept moving on things and we want to thank everyone involved that they didn`t give up and they gave my Dad justice,” says Lynn Morningstar.

But even after two juries convicted him, Huser insists he didn't hire the killer.

“I had nothing to do with Lance Morningstar`s murder and I’ve claimed innocence throughout the whole trial for as long as this has gone on and I am innocent,” said Huser.

Back in 2010, the first jury found Huser guilty.  An appeal won him a new trial, with the same outcome.

“It's been a very long road, so hopefully today at the sentencing for Mr. Huser it gives the Morningstar family some closure and they can put this behind them and move on with their lives,” says Prosecuting Attorney Steve Foritano.

After two trials spanning a decade, the Morningstar’s are eager to heal and Lynn Morningstar says after today, they finally can.

“He was a fun loving guy, we miss him a lot, wish he was still here,” says Lynn Morningstar.

Huser has 30 days to appeal his sentence.

Well my thoughts: I think it was Woolheater dating or having affair with Husers exwife while she was with Morningstar. Woolheater was dating many many women and lieing to all of them. I think Woolheater planned it all and did it all and set Huser up. Wasnt Huser divorced from his wife for a long time before this happened? And I want to know what happened to that gal that help Woolheater move the body? Did she not have to do jail time?
