MAN ARRESTED: Gun Fired In Des Moines Park

Police arrested a Des Moines man for allegedly firing a gun into the air in a Des Moines park.

It happened early Thursday at around 2:15 a.m. at Pioneer Park near Southeast 14th Street.

William Hood, 28, told officers he bought the gun a few days earlier to “look cool.” He also told police he fired it into the air “just to do it.”

Hood is now charged with illegally carrying weapons and reckless use of a firearm.

No one was hurt and no property was damaged in the incident.
