FIRE ACADEMY: West Des Moines Prepares For Citizens Program

The West Des Moines Fire Department is getting ready for the annual Citizens Fire Academy.

The eleventh annual Citizens Fire Academy program will delve into in-depth teaching and training on the fire department and fire safety.

The nine-week program will teach firefighting tactics and strategies as well as fire investigation and behaviors.  The academy program includes hands-on training drills and even experience fighting a real structural fire.

The class will meet once every week at West Des Moines Fire Department Station 17 starting on March 24.  The class will be held from 6:30 until 9:30 p.m. with two Saturday trips.
