Some people in the northern suburbs will soon have to find a new way to get to work.

The Iowa Department of Transportation is planning to close the Mile Long Bridge at Saylorville Lake.

Officials will hold a meeting on Thursday to discuss the repairs.  The meeting will be held at the Polk City Community Center from 5 until 7 p.m.

Officials said they hope to start repairs as soon as April and open the bridge back up in time for Memorial Day. While it’s closed, people will have to take one of the detours around.

The detours through the area will have drivers take Iowa 415, NW 26 Street, NW 66 Avenue and NW Beaver Drive to get to the other side.
