MESKWAKI MURDERS: Federal Charges Filed

Federal charges have been filed against a Meskwaki man accused of killing his parents.

On Friday, an FBI agent filed a criminal complaint against 25-year-old Gordon Lasley Junior in the deaths of Gordon Lasley Senior and Kim Lasley.

The couple was found dead in their home on the Meskwaki Settlement in Tama County February 5th. A bloody machete was found on a couch in the home.

Lasley also faces state charges of first-degree murder.

Federal authorities can prosecute Native Americans who commit serious crimes in tribal areas.
