Governor Branstad spoke about the accusations against director of Iowa Workforce Development, Teresa Wahlert.

Lawmakers accused Wahlert for influencing administrative law judges who decide unemployment compensation cases to side with employers rather than employees.
Branstad says he has “tremendous confidence” in Wahlert and says she is an “outstanding administrator.”

“It’s my understanding these so called tip-sheets are available to both the claimants and to the employers and that all of the accusations that have been made against her she branstadanswered in a letter to the Department of Labor,” Gov. Branstad said in his weekly press conference.

“I think she’s an outstanding administrator, I think it’s very unfair and I think these are partisan political attacks.”

A democrat senator is pushing for a federal investigation into the matter.
