Several crews responded to a large fire in rural Story County Monday.

At least eight corn stover bales caught fire near Nevada Monday morning. The bails were being set aside for the new DuPont corn stover plant going up in the area.

The product was set to go to the plant to be used to produce ethanol.

The fire spread quickly because of today’s strong wind.

No one was injured and officials are still trying to determine how the fire started.
