The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the death of former Des Moines developer Bob Knapp.

Knapp’s body was discovered Sunday in a burned out car in rural Guthrie County.

The car, a Honda Accord, was reported stolen out of Waukee.

An autopsy took place Monday morning. Investigators are not releasing the cause of death.

The US Marshalls Service was already searching for Knapp for violating the conditions of his parole.

Knapp was sentenced to 41-months in prison in June of 2011 on federal charges connected to work on the Equitable Building in downtown Des Moines.

Knapp admitted to violating the Clean Air Act and the improper disposal of asbestos.
