A few road construction projects kick off Monday and that could add some time to your commute.

Hickman Road in Urbandale will be down to one lane in each direction near North Walnut Creek. Crews are doing bridge deck repair work on the bridge over the creek. Work will last until mid-July.

North of the Des Moines metro, drivers will find a detour in Collins. It’s due to the reconstruction of Highway 65 through the city. That includes replacing an abandoned railroad bridge. Traffic will be detoured using Iowa 210, I-35, and Highway 30. The project will last until late October.

Overnight, expect I-80 exit 117 eastbound to close south of Waukee. The detour goes onto the off-ramp at exit 117 and onto the I-80 entrance ramp. The exit closes at 9:00 p.m. Monday, but should reopen 5:00 a.m. Tuesday.
