The Des Moines Area Association of Realtors says the housing industry is growing.

The association says about 400 additional contracts were written in April compared to the month before.

The median sale price also jumped more than $10,000 to $159,000 and homes are spending an average of 98 days on the market.

“We thought March was a strong month but April blew it out of the water, with almost 400 more contracts written than the month before,” association president Scott Wendl said. “Buyers seem to be realizing that the marketplace is not going to wait for them.”

The association looks at home sales in the Dallas, Jasper, Marion, Polk and Warren counties.

days on market can be manipulated by each re-listed property that stats do not carryover (for a reason)
also what they are not telling you is that median stats include custom new-built homes by Docs, lawyers, etc.
    and not existing re-sales.
