Thursday the public has a chance to check out plans to revamp Saylorville Lake.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is holding an open house style public meeting so people can review a draft of the master plan. It’s at the Johnston Library on Merle Hay Road from noon until 7:00 p.m.

The old master plan has been in place since 1984.

Some of the changes include adding new playgrounds, improving campsites, and updating the infrastructure.

This plan does not address policies, usage fees, or water quality.

The one thing that needs revamping the most is what brings people to the lake in the first place. The water.

What needs to be imrpoved on the water? Less idoit pleasure boaters and more boaters that know how to be curtious and know how to operate a boat?

I have to agree with Will.. water quality! Also, yeah the whole thing needs revamped.. I guess its a good start to add some new attractions. BOUT TIME!

Hey Willie long time missed ya. The water quality has to be addressed first. If there are alge blooms everywhere and you cannot swim or boat no need for playgrounds and improved campsites. The corp has messed up every waterway in the US. just look at the flloding on the Missouri and Mississippi.
