Former Hawkeye basketball player Zach McCabe did not have a senior season to remember.

On Friday it got worse.

McCabe found himself in jail Friday after being arrested for assault causing bodily injury.

The incident happened at 12:10 a.m. Friday morning outside of DC’s bar in Iowa City.

McCabe allegedly punched a man in the face for trying to separate McCabe and a female who were arguing.

After punching the victim, McCabe then blew him a kiss and walked away.

McCabe turned himself in to police Friday afternoon where he was held on a $1,500 cash bond.

“It is my understanding that senior Zach McCabe was involved in an altercation last night in Iowa City. After collecting all the facts, I will deal with this situation when I return next week,” Coach Fran McCaffery said. He is currently in Florida attending a gala.

Another drunken, egotistical college sports player. This low life should be ashamed of his actions, but instead, the scumbag blows a kiss at the person he just assaulted.

As long as college sports is about nothing more than the money you’ll attract thugs such as this. Let’s hope the university does the right thing and ends his college career.

Maybe some people shouldnt stick their nose where it does not belong. It was probably some other drunk guy that was thinking, hmm if i go and save her then she will come home with me. Unless it was a physical altercation, then the other man should have just kept on walking.

Why does Fran have to deal with anything? He’s a former player and has nothing to do with the university anymore. Why did they have to contact him about this situation?
