The city of Des Moines will soon be the new owner of a burned out warehouse.

Council members unanimously approved a plan to acquire what’s left of a former recycling center on the east-side.

The warehouse was intentionally set on fire last August and burned for nearly a week before it was extinguished.

The city council plans to tear down the building with help from the DNR then sell the land for redevelopment.

Is Des Moines actually capable of handling it’s own problems without stealing from Iowa tax payers?

Or is it comfortable in it’s role as the welfare capital of Iowa?
