FLASH FLOODING: Three Inches Falls In Hours

A small, but powerful band of storms cut across the middle of the state Tuesday evening.

The system dumped over three inches of rain in just three hours along parts of Boone, Story and Marshall counties.

Ames was hit particularly hard with flash flooding a concern for drivers.

In Ankeny, nearly 2,000 MidAmerican customers went without power through the evening.

Flash flooding wasn’t the only damage the storm caused.

A farm near Cambridge was hit hard with high winds causing damage to barns and several trees.
