For nearly 25 years the Des Moines “I Have A Dream” Foundation has helped students get from elementary school to high school graduation, but this year the foundation is trying something new.
Instead of adopting a class of 50 students, it’s adopting a whole school. Starting this fall all students at Findley Elementary will be a part of the Dreamer Academy.
So far the Academy has raised nearly $400,000 for the project and Thursday the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines donated $100,000 to the project. The money will go towards summer, after school, and mentor programs.
