Voters will soon head to the polls for next week’s primary.

A former presidential candidate was showing his support for two candidates on the ballot on Thursday.

Texas Governor Rick Perry is campaigning for US Senate candidate Matt Whitaker and Governor Terry Branstad.

Wednesday, Governor Perry toured Master Tool and Manufacturing in Hiawatha. This morning, Perry was at the Plus39 Cafe in Ames.

Perry said supporting Branstad could benefit other key races.

“It’s not just about Terry. I’m pretty sure Terry Branstad is going to win going away. But the strength of his campaign also will make a difference in the United States Senate race here and having Republican control of the Senate is very important,” Gov. Perry said.

Perry and the governor will be in Le Mars for a tour of Blue Bunny Ice Cream Thursday evening.

Branstad’s opponent, state senator Jack Hatch is also lining up some campaign help.

Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley will join Hatch at campaign stops in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids and Dubuque on June 21st.

Does Rick Perry have autism? The way he was rocking himself in the video clip and his thought processes lead me to think so What ever happened to Chris Christie anyway? He was suppose to be the mouth piece for the losers in this state.
