The FBI has issued a nationwide alert for a man with connections to Central Iowa.

On Sunday, authorities announced they have launched a nationwide manhunt for Ryan Kelly Chamberlain II, 42,  after explosive materials were found in his San Francisco apartment. The FBI said Chamberlain is armed, dangerous and may be in possession of explosives in his vehicle.

According to the Des Moines Register, Chamberlain has connections to central Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1993 and wrote music reviews for The Des Moines Register in 1995 and 1996. Register archivesindicate that Chamberlainpreviously worked as promotional director atHooter's of Des Moines, and in Sen. Chuck Grassley's Washington, D.C., office.Chamberlain was last seen in a dark blue, hooded sweatshirt and jeans. He is 6' 3", weighs 225 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Authorities believe Chamberlain is traveling in a white, 2008 NissanAltima with Texas or California license plates.

The FBI did not release any other details about the nature of the investigation but said authorities believe Chamberlain is acting alone.
