SEXUAL ABUSE: Man Accused of Abusing Woman in Ames Apartment

An Alabama man is charged with sexual abuse and false imprisonment after police say he sexually abused a woman in Ames.

Iowa State University Police received a call at about 10 p.m. Sunday that there was an assault in progress at an apartment located in the Schilletter Village university housing complex.

Police arrested William Carter, 26, in the case. According to police, Carter met a woman to watch movies when he sexually abused her and would not let her leave the residence. The woman was able to use her cell phone to text a friend for help.

Carter has been charged with four counts of third degree sexual abuse, false imprisonment and providing alcohol to a minor. He was taken to the Story County Jail.
