IOWA CITY, Iowa–Iowa Hawkeye football player Nico Law found himself in trouble with the law.  A police complaint showed a man claimed Law attacked him outside an Iowa City bar early Saturday morning. The man said Law punched, tackled and kicked him.

The complaint said the man and Law’s female friend had earlier gotten into an argument.

Law is a senior defensive back.

Head Coach Kirk Ferentz sent out a statement about the incident:

“I was disappointed to hear of the incident involving Nico,” said Iowa football head coach Kirk Ferentz.  “We will work with authorities in gathering the facts. Nico will go through the UI Student-Athlete Code of Conduct process and we will move forward from there.”

Law, who will be a senior this fall, is a native of Clinton, Maryland.  He saw action in all 13 games a year ago, recording four solo tackles and one assist.
