Morning Standoff Ends Peacefully

MITCHELLVILLE, Iowa – A standoff at a Mitchellville home came to a peaceful end this morning.

Mitchellville Police and Polk County Conservation responded to 205 High St. regarding a Domestic Disturbance just after 11 p.m. Friday night.

A responding officer says he saw Charles Fisher Sr. holding a loaded handgun inside the home. At the same time, a female victim was able to escape the home safely.

After nearly an hour of negotiations, Fisher exited the home and was taken into custody.

Fisher is charged with Aggravated Domestic Assault with a weapon and Obstructing Emergency Communications. He is being held in the Polk County Jail.
